Royal
Invitation
Small
and medium-sized businesses make a vital contribution to the global
economy and I am delighted that the 35th
International Small Business Congress
will be held in Belfast in 2008 as it is over twenty years since it
was last held in the these Islands.
As
Founder of the Genesis Initiative, I recognise the significance of that
contribution in these competitive times. SMEs
are the core of our economic success. A
clear understanding of what facilitates their ability to trade both
domestically and internationally, and what
hinders it, will further enhance their
global importance.
The
35th ISBC Congress will offer experts from over 60 countries the occasion
to exchange best practice in SME start-up, growth and support. It will
also provide the context for forming stronger international networks in
support of trade and entrepreneurship.
Countries
across the world share the United Kingdom’s desire to be leading centres
of enterprise. That demands that business people adopt an entrepreneurial
approach in looking for markets, products and resources.
I
have no doubt that all delegates will derive great benefit from the
celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit that
lies at the heart of the International
Congress. I wish its Organisers, hosts
and supporters every success.

Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent GCVO
