Invitation
from ISBC Steering Committee
SME
activity and policy has been receiving increased attention in national
economies and public policy. The ISBC,
consisting of business representatives, policy practitioners,
and researchers, has contributed to the promotion of communication and
understanding among related parties in an
increasingly globalised society.
Sustainable
development is the most important objective which we face in the 21st
century, and the marriage of SME activity and
policy with sustainable development strategies
is imperative.
On
behalf of the ISBC Steering Committee, I invite everyone concerned about
these issues to come to Belfast, so
that the Congress will be successful from this viewpoint.

Invitation
to Belfast
It is a great pleasure to
invite the International Small Business Congress to Belfast, a place
where people are proud to live, work and visit. With a strong and modern
physical infrastructure, highly skilled
workforce and exceptional educational resources, we
are ideally placed to compete globally.
As a small business economy,
our ability to foster entrepreneurship and stimulate business
development is vital to our future prosperity. Through localised, area
based interventions and linking our
educational resources to industry, we have created strong foundations
from which to build our ongoing competitiveness.
Fast growing sectors in
Belfast include the creative, environmental, advanced manufacturing
and knowledge industries which are contributing new wealth to the city.
With exciting new retail,
tourism and business developments, Belfast has established itself
as a dynamic European City of choice for investors, businesses and leisure
tourists alike. I look forward to
welcoming you to our City.
The Lord
Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Tom Hartley
